Thierry Porté is Managing Director and Vice Chairman at J.C. Flowers & Co., a leading global private equity firm focused exclusively on financial services. With AUM of about USD 5bn, the firm has deployed over USD 18bn across 66 portfolio companies in 18 countries over its 28-year history.
Since joining J.C. Flowers in 2009, Thierry has led major international investments across banking, insurance, and financial technology. He played a central role in the operational turnaround of Shinsei Bank in Japan, widely regarded as a landmark private equity transaction and the first successful acquisition and restructuring of a major nationalized Japanese bank by a foreign investor group. The deal generated approximately USD 7bn in total returns.
Prior to J.C. Flowers, Thierry spent 22 years at Morgan Stanley across New York, London, and Tokyo, ultimately serving as Managing Director and President/Branch Manager of Morgan Stanley Japan (1995–2003).
