About

Lone Søndergaard is an impact investment professional with almost two decades of experience across the financial industry, including over 14 years in impact investments spanning private equity, private debt, and fund investments across frontier and emerging markets.

Previously, Lone served as Investment Director at Abler Nordic, a Scandinavian impact fund investing in growth-stage financial institutions across Africa and Asia. Over nearly nine years, she progressed from Investment Manager to Investment Director, managing a USD 34 million portfolio and leading end-to-end investment processes from sourcing and due diligence through active ownership to exit. She also served as the fund’s Impact and ESG Manager, developing its impact framework, policies, and social performance monitoring systems, and led investor relations in Denmark, raising a total of USD 53 million.

Prior to Abler Nordic, she spent six years at Danske Bank, progressing from Project Manager to Chief Programme Manager, leading large-scale operational transformation programmes. Earlier in her career, she held investment and management roles at Fusion Investment Management and MYC4 in East Africa.

Over the years, Lone has served on the boards and advisory boards of regulated financial institutions and impact funds across Africa and Asia, including an Indian non-bank financial institution serving over 600,000 clients, a Kenyan microfinance institution serving smallholder farmers, and four impact funds. She currently chairs the Global South Group of the Danish Impact Committee and sits on the board of Danish Microfinance Forum.

Lone holds an M.Sc. in International Business from Copenhagen Business School
