Arthur Sletteberg is a Norwegian economist and senior executive with deep expertise in impact investing and financial inclusion. He served as Managing Director of Abler Nordic (formerly Nordic Microfinance Initiative) for 11 years, retiring in late 2025.

Under his leadership, the public-private partnership tripled its committed capital to USD 470m, established active operations across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, including offices in India and Kenya, and provided sustainable financial services to millions of low-income individuals.

Arthur is a recognized proponent of blended finance, using public funds to de-risk investments and enable private capital to enter emerging markets. He championed local currency hedging mechanisms to protect small financial institutions from FX volatility, while maintaining that impact investments must deliver viable financial returns. He has served on Norway’s Ethics Council (Etikkrådet), advising on whether investments of the Government Pension Fund Global are in compliance with the Fund’s investment guidelines. Currently, he is a member of the committee appointed by the Ministry of Finance to propose a revised ethical framework for the Government Pension Fund Global.
